Welcome to Gilbert Elementary Physical Education where students are introduced to a wide-range of fitness and sport-related activities. I am confident your child will LOVE P.E. at our school as it offers so much in terms of quality instruction in a fun way where the kids are continually engaged in activity. We get a lot done in a 40 minute class period! We do a 2-3 minute warm-up activity to begin class, and then move to fitness where students exercise and learn how to maintain their fitness outside of class and school in ways they enjoy. We then move on to our lesson focus and always finish with a game. I am looking forward to meeting you and working with your child!
This is my 22nd year teaching Physical Education right here at Gilbert Elementary. I have had the privilege of working with many awesome educators over the years and three excellent principals. This has been and continues to be a great school. I still love to teach these kids and can't imagine doing anything else professionally but working with them for years to come. I enjoy continually finding new ways to enrich my class and provide the best experience possible. I am an ASU graduate and began teaching immediately after college. I also have a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from NAU. Teaching P.E. is my dream job and I am truly blessed to get to do it.
Outside of school I spend a great deal of time with my wife as we team up in supporting our son's academic growth, coaching multiple sport seasons and just being a husband and dad. That is a full-time job right there (they're both a real handful). I enjoy playing and watching many sports and just began playing golf this summer after three years listening to my son's coach teach him. I think I have found a sport I can enjoy in advanced age. I really wish I would have learned when I was a kid but then again I would probably be on the PGA Tour instead of teaching. You might see me at Lifetime Fitness trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle and be that good example for my students.
